According to World Health Organisation figures, road traffic injuries are the biggest killer of teenagers. So, the Smart Driver Club are looking to put parent’s fears to rest with technology.
Using a simple, self-installed plug-in device, Smart Driver Club tells parents where their son or daughter’s car is at any time, day or night, and will immediately notify them if their youngster is involved in an accident. The system will also contact the emergency services if the driver can’t be reached on their mobile phone.
Penny Searles, CEO of Smart Driver Club said: “We knew the service would have appeal to parents but have been astounded at the level of interest we’ve received since we launched. As long as the son or daughter has agreed, we are able to give their parents the peace of mind they evidently need, when their offspring is out on the road.”
Smart Driver Club is a completely unique membership service for motorists driving vehicles that have been manufactured since 2004 and costs just £7.99 per month. Once a customer joins the club, as a member, they will be sent a small device - the Smart Plug - which they insert in an easily accessed socket, normally underneath the steering column.
It includes essential safety features like crash vehicle location assistance, breakdown help that can see the driver’s location to find them faster, theft tracking that can speed up Police recovery and a digital mechanic that can identify faults to help motorists avoid worsening the damage or even prevent a breakdown.
“The beauty of Smart Driver Club.” Adds Searles, “is that parents don’t have to do anything once membership is activated, it runs quietly in the background until needed.” And, gives that extra peace of mind for mum and dad.
